A cave in California was found to have been used not just for prehistoric painting, but as a site for mind exploration. Within the cave walls were found “quids” (chewed up wads) of the hallucinogenic plant Datura, ostensibly used by the people who painted datura flowers all over the cave walls, thus giving it the name “Pinwheel Cave.”
